Tell Me Why Album Cover

I was shocked when a company called iam8bit sent me a message on Instagram inquiring about my availability for a project designing the front and back of a vinyl album cover. At this point in my journey I had hardly released any patterns, only had a couple hundred followers, and no cohesive brand. How did these people find me? Is this a scam?

After confirming that it was, indeed, a real company I started a partnership with them that has changed the way I look at my art and by business. The videogame Tell Me Why, aside from being an incredible game, has a playable Trans character. Everyone involved in the designing of the game were very intentional about including Trans creators in every step, something which is very clear as a Trans person myself playing the game. Many of, even the little experiences, that the main character has are very authentic and hit home for me. All of this made the project even more special to me.

The pieces and designs themself are handcrafted completely by me and consists of a foundation paper piecing quilt block, linocut prints, hand beading, and free motion quilting. The color scheme, art, and style are based on art which can be seen throughout the game and works well to create a cohesive theme and brand. The two finished quilts were sent to iam8bit as a part of the contract, to be photographed professionally. Now, they hang in the office of a person who worked on the project with me at their HQ.

The finished album turned out incredible, with embossing over every single quilted and sewn line on the cover, giving it the feel of a real quilt. It was an incredibly surreal experience and I am so happy to have gotten the opportunity. The album can be bought here.
